Step-by-Step Instructions
Foundation Chain & Row 1
Leaving an 8-inch yarn tail for bottom cinching, chain 17 with your 6.0mm hook.
Row 1: Starting in the 2nd chain from hook, work 1 hdc into each chain across. Ch 1, turn. (16 hdc total).
Rows 2 to 24 (Ribbed Rectangle)
Row 2: Working strictly in the Back Loop Only (BLO), work 1 hdc into each of the 16 sts across. Ch 1, turn. (16 hdc).
Rows 3 - 24: Repeat Row 2. Work 1 hdc BLO in each stitch across. Always ch 1 and turn at the end of every row. (Every row has exactly 16 sts).
After Row 24, fasten off leaving an extra-long 30-inch (75 cm) tail.
Seaming the Cylinder & Cinching Bottom
Fold rectangle in half matching Row 1 to Row 24. Whipstitch or slip-stitch through the outer edge loops across all 16 sts to form a tube.
Thread the 8-inch starter tail onto your tapestry needle. Weave a running basting stitch through the 24 row ends along the bottom rim.
Pull firmly like a drawstring bag to cinch the bottom opening completely shut. Knot securely inside the tube.
Stuffing & Cinching Top
Turn the cylinder right side out so the plush accordion ridges face outward.
Pack 40-50g of polyfill firmly against the exterior walls while leaving the center corridor accessible.
Weave the 30-inch working tail through the top row ends. Pull to cinch, leaving a small 0.5-inch opening for the stem. Tie a half-hitch knot but DO NOT cut yarn.
